It has been an unforgettable year. Now he is set on a new goal. This is the story of the "defending champion" KIA Tigers, who are aiming for their second consecutive win.
Last year, Kia overcame a number of negative factors to finish the regular season at the top of the list. The trend continued until the fall baseball season. In the Korean Series against the Samsung Lions, the team won the Korean Series for the 12th time by posting four wins and one loss overall.메이저놀이터
Kia, which has had a warmer winter than ever, is now preparing for its new season. It will depart for Los Angeles (LA) in the U.S. on Feb. 22 and 23, and start its spring camp from Feb. 25. It will have its first spring camp at the Great Park Baseball Complex in Irvine, the U.S., run its second spring camp at Kin Stadium in Okinawa, Japan from Feb. 21 to March 4, and return to Korea on March 5.
KIA has already entered season preparation mode even before leaving the country. A coaching staff strategy seminar was held in the Gwangju-KIA Champions Field conference room on the 16th. A total of 45 people attended the seminar, including CEO Choi Joon-young, general manager Shim Jae-hak, head coach Lee Bum-ho, coaching staff of the first team/futures and residual forces, training coaches, and front office. "It was time to talk about what kind of plans to bring as we did (seminar) last year," coach Lee said.
The analysis part analyzed the factors that no unified team has won for the second consecutive year in the league in the last 10 years and suggested what the club should supplement this season. In addition, KIA also had time to discuss ▲ reviewing last season for each part and setting goals for this season ▲ meeting of coaching staff of the first team/futures for active communication ▲ establishing a systematic routine for each player.
The roster for the spring camp has been confirmed as well. Kia has put together a team of 60 players including 22 coaching staff and 38 players. The team consists of 18 pitchers, three catchers, 10 infielders, and seven outfielders. Among new players in 2025, pitcher Kim Tae-hyung is the only one listed.
"We prepared the best players from last year. I tried to bring the players who I used the most," Lee said on the roster of the spring camp. "I also thought about that because we don't play games in the U.S.."
According to Kia's team, no practice matches will be held at the first Irvine spring camp in the U.S. During this period, the team will conduct physical, technical and tactical training while boosting their physical conditions. At the second spring camp in Okinawa, Japan, the team will hold practice games with teams from the Hiroshima Toyokaf and KBO League to boost their sense of play in the field.
The difference from last year's event was that the venue of the first spring camp was changed from Canberra in Australia to Irvine in the U.S. "As far as I know, Irvine is in the perfect weather for exercise and the playground is well equipped. I haven't been there yet, but I'm going to go and check what kind of place it is," Lee said.
What is his detailed plan? "I will prepare myself perfectly in the first camp and start practicing in Okinawa, so I will do a lot of defensive work. So I will make up for what I lacked in the first camp," Lee said.
There is no reason to hurry right now. It is important for all players to prepare for the season in perfect condition without injury. The head coach believes that he will fully communicate with the players and digest the camp.
Coach Lee stressed, "I'm going to talk with the players about what was good and bad last year while staying in the U.S., and make up for what I lacked. After building my body, how best I can play in the regular season is the most important part for us, so we're going to talk and prepare slowly."
